Common Questions about Pause & Connect
Rooted Together
Space for Connection
This free, four week, in person series is open to University of Minnesota students and centers the experiences of first generation students of color navigating stress, isolation, and transitions in early adulthood. The supported space is designed to foster connection, validation, and support through shared and lived experiences.
Rooted Together is limited to eight participants, and advanced registration is required (see link below).
Participants can expect a supportive and affirming space to share their experiences, reduce isolation, and build community with peers who may relate to being “the first.” Rooted Together will be facilitated by a graduate-level counselor and will include guided reflection, discussion, creative activities, and practical coping tools. Participants will have opportunities to identify strengths, values, and motivations; learn to externalize stress and self-doubt; increase awareness of systemic influences; and develop strategies for navigating challenges without sacrificing personal or cultural values.
