Community-Based
Crisis Support
This page offers a list of community-based crisis support resources that intend to provide compassionate, identity-affirming care.
We believe these can be necessary and valuable alternatives to 988 or 911, especially for BIPOC, immigrant, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, when experiencing a mental health crisis and needing to speak with someone immediately.
These services center care, not control.
They are intended to reduce harm and offer support in moments of distress without defaulting to systems that have historically failed or harmed marginalized communities. While we do our best to identify resources that do not involve law enforcement as part of their crisis response, we cannot guarantee this for all listings. Before engaging with a crisis service, we encourage you to ask directly whether they coordinate with law enforcement and under what circumstances. If you or a loved one is experiencing a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate medical care, we encourage you to consider utilizing your local mental health emergency or urgent care services.
If you need support identifying these options specific to your local area for future reference, please discuss this with your MindBalance Mental Health Care therapist during your next session.
