Her approach is grounded in a strengths-based, culturally informed, affirming, and collaborative framework. She aims to support and create a non-judgmental space for you.

Approach to Therapy

Know you are deserving of dignity, joy, and care regardless of your life experiences or current circumstances.

Almena shares that in her practice she employs an eclectic theoretical orientation, drawing from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, narrative, systems, and solution focused frameworks. She tailors therapy to the unique needs and goals of each client, fostering personal growth and positive change. She has experience working with clients who identify as part of the following communities: BIPOC, LGBTQ+, African adults and families, university students, and refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers.

She has a wealth of lived and professional experience as someone who has over 25+ years in corporations and international organizations in the United States, Middle East, and France prior to her work providing culturally and trauma informed individual and group therapy services.

Self-care as a therapist

In her free time, Almena enjoys spending time with her husband, kids, grandkids, and extended family, international travel.

I enjoy the simple things in life: walks in nature, gardening, home-cooked meals, and lively conversations about the world we live in from different perspectives.

Almena loves working with individuals with their identity, sense of self, and creating spaces for healing trauma.

Do you feel unseen, unheard, and/or unaccepted? Do you struggle with negative thinking and beliefs or have difficulties believing in yourself?

Do you feel sad, stuck, confused, frustrated in life? Are thoughts/events of the past keeping you captive causing feelings of guilt, shame hurt, and regret? Or perhaps, despite your best efforts, you are unable to find the words that fully express how you are feeling?

Almena offers both in-person and telehealth (virtual) therapy services. She has openings for new clients. Book an initial consultation appointment to talk with the team about working with Almena.
